At Lexden Luxe, our purpose is to ensure brands who serve the UHNWIs are equipped to deliver client management excellence. The misconception is client experience only refers to high intense moments, such as ownership of a completed yacht or the maiden voyage. Whilst these are unforgettable, there are many more. Some operational type experiences demand as much attention to ensure they are valued by the client and sustain the reputation of the luxury brand. Across any relationship between the most important clientele and the serving UHNWI brand there are transactions. Expectation management and seamless exchanges are critical for the continued servicing of the relationship.
Yachting is no exception. The reality is the world of yacht chartering is built on precise execution and impeccable service. At the heart of this industry lies the MYBA Charter Agreement. Essential framework for Nautica, it ensures clarity and trust between stakeholders. On March 11th, we joined YPY Monaco for an exclusive presentation on the 2025 MYBA Charter Agreement.
A strategic evolution for 2025
The 2025 revision of the MYBA Charter Agreement represented a carefully curated refinement rather than a transformation. The goal was to create a contract that was clearer, more structured, and left minimal room for interpretation, all while preserving its fundamental principles.
This strategic update is critical for ensuring that charter clients experience smooth transactions, mitigating uncertainties that could impact their trust in the process.
By reviewing and updating almost all clauses and introducing six new ones, MYBA took a proactive approach to addressing previously identified gaps, reinforcing the contract’s role as the gold standard in yacht chartering.
Enhancing clarity for elevated experiences
For brokers, legal advisors, and charter professionals, understanding the updated agreement is essential to delivering a flawless client journey. The revisions are not merely legal refinements, but strategic enhancements that safeguarded the client experience.
For UHNWI clientele and industry professionals, this translates to a higher degree of confidence in the process, reinforcing their loyalty to the industry’s top-tier service providers.
Thought leaders driving change
Guiding this conversation were some of the most influential figures in the yachting industry:
Raphael Sauleau, CEO, IYC & MYBA President
Neil Northmore, Partner – General Counsel, Burgess
Paul Dickie, Partner, Jaffa & Co
Jessica Taylor, Legal Director, HFW
Pierre Hurel, Senior Charter Broker, Camper & Nicholsons
Zelda Swindell, Senior Charter Marketing Manager, Northrop & Johnson
Moderated by Sarah Futhazar, Group Head of Charter, Camper & Nicholsons, this discussion provided invaluable insights into how the revised agreement aligned with the industry’s strategic priorities and the ever-evolving expectations of luxury clientele.
A commitment to excellence
By strengthening contractual clarity and addressing potential ambiguities, MYBA continued to set the benchmark for excellence in yacht chartering.
As we gathered at the Monaco Yacht Club, the conversation was not just about legal frameworks. The strategically refined agreement ensures that charter professionals can focus on what truly matters delivering exceptional experiences that resonate with the world’s most discerning clientele.
The industry recognises that several challenges still persist, particularly as more clients favour chartering over ownership. That makes it even more critical to deliver a top-tier experience. By refining the fine print, the 2025 MYBA Charter Agreement represents a step forward in elevating the charter journey by building greater trust, clarity, and professionalism for both brokers and clients. There’s still much to do, but this revision signals a shared commitment to meeting the evolving expectations of our most discerning clientele.
